G-BA decision: Dark prospects for cannabis patients?

Congress Room

“There is a danger that many seriously ill patients will soon be forced back into the black market” – these were the words of several professional associations of patients, doctors, pharmacists and producers of medicinal cannabis a few weeks ago in response to a draft guideline of the Federal Joint Committee (G-BA) on the future handling of cannabis as medicine.

Their reproach: With its draft, the G-BA intends to no longer recognise and pay for cannabis flowers as medicinal products. The products should only be approved in exceptional cases. Access to cannabis-based medicines would be significantly restricted, especially for patients with health insurance. Dr Neubaur reports on the current situation.
