Since 1984 the Nachtschattenverlag publishing house as specialist publisher for drug education has been dedicating the task of showing the background and the history of the drug use of drug consumption by means of factual information and contributing to the prevention and harm reduction – in contrast to the usual black and white polemics and ‘war the drug’ slogans The firm conviction that enlightened people may have a self-determined degree of maturity in dealing with drugs, provided that the right information is accessible.

The publishing program covers a wide spectrum: it contains not only books on illegal drugs, but also specialist information on legal tobacco and alcohol, works on shamanism, drug policies, psycholytic therapy and philosophical views, for example in the book series “Ecology of Consciousness”. And, of course, the sense of humor must also be part of our seriousness (see our comics collection).

Authors and writers such as Albert Hofmann, Günter Amendt, Christian Rätsch, Timothy Leary, Ralph Metzner, Wolfgang Bauer, Claudia Müller-Ebeling, Mathias Bröckers, Hans Cousto, Jonathan Ott, Sergius Golowin, Robert Anton Wilson, Markus Berger, Alex Ochse and others are represented in the publishing program of the last decades.
